Broos Having Mixed Feelings On Totalenergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 Qualifiers Draw Outcome

Since their historic 1996 feat, the South Africans have not enjoyed a great run on the continent.

However, the arrival of the former Cameroon coach who guided the Indomitable Lions to their fifth continental crown has seen a steady rise of Bafana Bafana.

The South Africans are drawn in Group K of the qualifiers of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 consisting of Uganda, Congo and South Sudan, an outcome that has the 72-year-old tactician with mixed feelings on his analysis of the opponents.

“When I look at our group in the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, I think I can be satisfied with the draw but also very careful. First of all we have Uganda and they are a very powerful team, and very difficult to play against. So we have to achieve our best level against them.

“Secondly we have Congo and they are more of a technical team, and very dangerous when they play at home. So there also, again, we need a very good performance”, said Broos.

Lastly we have South Sudan, and for me they are a completely unknown quantity. It will be very important to have a good analysis of that opponent so that we do not lose too many points against them because it can be very important”, concluded the coach.

The qualifiers are set to take place between September and November 2024.

The first and second-placed teams from each of the eleven groups, excluding Group B where Morocco competes, will earn their spots in the tournament set to take place in Morocco between 21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026.
