Junior Nduka Reveals Team’s Plan For Successful Continental Campaign

Remo Stars of Ikenne are bound to have a stunning run and successful campaign next season in the CAF Champions League if the words of their captain, Junior Nduka are anything to go by.

While still basking in the euphoria of their runners-up finish this season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Nduka disclosed that the coaches and players have already resolved to do better this time out on the continent.

It will be the third straight continental outing for Honourable Kunle Soname’s club, following their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2022 and the Champions League last year.

They lost to ASFAR of Morocco on away goals rule in 2022 and crashed out to Madeama of Ghana via a penalties shootout last year at Ikenne Stadium, with both exits occurring in the first qualifying round of the respective competitions.

However, Nduka has now affirmed that Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has fashioned out a different strategy for the squad, and they are all confident of achieving a better continental campaign in the coming season.

“We want to do something different on the continent next season,” Nduka asserted.
“We’ve played twice on the continent before, but we lost in the first preliminary round.

That doesn’t define us as a bad team or bad players, nor with a bad technical crew.
“It’s just football. Anything can happen before the group stage. That’s football for you.

“But we’ll see what we can do this time out. We’ll go back, try and adjust ourselves.
“See one or two things we can improve on different from what we did last season and the past upper one. Then we’ll see how the results will be this time around.”

Incidentally, unlike last year, when Enyimba of Aba campaigned alongside Remo Stars in the CAF Champions League, The Peoples’ Elephant will play in the Confederation Cup, after finishing third in the NPFL.

On the other hand, Remo Stars will be joined this time out in the money-spinning elite clubs’ continental competition by new NPFL champions, Rangers International of Enugu.
