A total of 96 teams are expected to take part in this year’s edition of the Prince GAS Cup scheduled to take place in four centres across Lagos State, on November 13.
The Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prince Gbadamosi Adebola Sulaimon, stated that 64 teams would battle for honours in the U-15 category, while 32 teams would vie for the top prize in the free age category, at the Igando, Mushin, Ejigbo and Aboru centres.
Sulaimon, who is also the treasurer, Grassroots Football Association of Lagos, assured that the 2020 edition would be topnotch with mouth-watering cash prizes on offer.
“I want to state that this year’s edition will be well-packaged in terms of organisation; the use of qualified referees, while cash prizes have been increased to N100, 000 and N50, 000 for the winner and runner up respectively,” he said.
He added that finalists would also smile home with sets of jerseys and other individual awards.
“We urge the participating teams to adhere to the rules of the competition, while also observing the COVID-19 protocols. Teams that go against the rules would be disqualified,” Sulaimon said, adding that the U-15 teams would be taken care of at both centres in Igando and Mushin.
He disclosed that the free age category of the championship is in its 12th edition, while the u-15 cadre is in its seventh edition.
He stated that Ever-Increasing FC would defend their title in the free age category, while Peerless FC, Aboru, would stake their title in the U-15 category being the reigning champions.
The competition is supported by Elder David Akere; the Grand Patron, Chief Iyk Madu Obi; Germany-based Yomi Oyadeyi, and Raheem Ganiu, of ROLAG Investment, while “Mr Fruits” is the official drink of the championship.
