In furtherance of previous successful editions of the 1994 set annual essay competition which began in 2019, Saint Finbarrs College Essay Competition for this year is set to kick off on Monday with a bigger and more rewarding jumbo package for the winner.
An intriguing and fascinating theme which will form the central topic for the essay has been culled which is; ‘Nigeria is touted as the ‘Giant of Africa’, a land flowing with milk and honey, its people also strongly believe that the Nigerian nation is enthroned with an abundance of human, economic and natural resources.
In the light of the recent economic, political and socio-cultural development in Nigeria, and as a youth who is the future of this great nation, what does this statement means to you? And how can youths change the narrative of the future of Nigeria?
The competition which is open to students in the JS and SS classes (JS 1-3) is proposed to commence on Monday, 18th of October with an end date slated for Friday, 12th of November, 2021.
Dr. Jacob Eneh, Chairman of the committee has revealed that the competition has now taken a new form which will be effective starting from the next edition, “from next year, it’s going to be a Lagos State competition.”
He assured that it will be the biggest as the committee has received the endorsement of the governor of the Lagos state with every secondary school student in consideration alongside jumbo rewards for their ability to write.
“Our vision and mission for this essay was started in the school and now come 2022, it will be a state project, our biggest dream is to make sure that education price money is bigger than reality shows in Nigeria,” he stated.
The winning essay will receive a cash prize of #, 100, 000 and an award plaque amongst many order gifts.
