80 Ladies, 125 Men Compete As 11th Kaduna Ladies Golf Tournament Tees Off

The 11th Kaduna Golf Club 1921 Ladies Golf Championship began on Thursday, January 9, 2025, bringing together over 80 female golfers and 125 male participants from clubs across Nigeria.

The four-day annual tournament, marked by green and white apparel, was officially opened in the presence of dignitaries on the lush course of Kaduna Golf Club. The championship will conclude on Sunday with a prize presentation ceremony for the winners.

Highlights of the event include a special barbecue today and an Old School Night on Saturday, following the day’s play for the Veterans Men and Ladies categories.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Ken Nwankwo emphasized the dynamic role of women, while Justina Gideon, the Kaduna Ladies Golf Club Captain, assured participants of a well-prepared and glamorous tournament.

Lami Ahmed, First Vice President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, appealed to men, particularly in northern Nigeria, to encourage their wives to embrace golf, emphasizing that religious considerations can be respected through appropriate attire. She noted that golf is a sport for all ages, from 6 to 99.

Evelyn Oyome, President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the hosts for preparing the beautiful course and welcomed all participants to Kaduna.

The tournament promises exciting moments before it concludes on Sunday.
