7th National Youth Games: Salam Aminu Looking To Break 400m Athletics Record As He Target 42.0 Time Clock Finish

Salam Aminu, Ogun State 400m Athletics runner is looking to break the 400m athletics record at the ongoing 7th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State as he eyes a personal time finish of 42.0.

“My personal best was 53.6 before but I improved in the last race although I’m still waiting for my coach to check the time I clocked.”

“Right now, I want to make it to a time clock of 42.0 so that I can break the record in 400m which is 43.0, and be the new record holder,” he told Sports247.ng.

On how it all started for him – “I have started this since I was in Primary 3, I was spurred by my sports master who introduced me into the set-up so when I got to secondary school, I discovered that I had the endurance for 400m and I started the journey.”

“It wasn’t easy back then financially but my coach bought me my first kit back in 2021 and he has been so helpful and instrumental to my progress in the sports hopefully I’m able to repay him someday”.
