Pokwangli United has also sent packing Pero Boys from the ongoing Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw.
With two minutes before the halftime break, Pokwangli United’s Musa Suleiman Ibrahim scored the game’s curtain-raiser but Dini Umar equalised for Pero Boys three minutes into the second half.
Philemon Dauda restored Pokwangli United’s lead with a sublime finish in the 57th minute but Pero Boys never gave up and they bagged the leveler in the 83rd minute.
Pokwangli United managed to steer off Pero Boys 4-3 in the ensuing penalty kick to scale through to the quarter-final.
They will now square up against Gwamdun Academy in the quarter-final on December 23rd.
The Round of 16 matches have now been rounded off with last year’s champions, Balanga United, first and second runner up (Bare City & All Stars)have all been eliminated with only Balanga LGA Team that finished fourth last year the only surviving team among the top four teams in the last edition.
