Balanga LGA Team’s Assistant captain, Yusuf Mohammed is optimistic they can finish higher than they did last year in the Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup.
Balanga LGA team finished fourth after they were walloped 7-0 by the All Stars of Kaltungo in the 3rd place match for the 2020 edition but Mohammed told Adamu Yola Cup Media that they are a more improved side than last year and are eager to be among the top three this term.
“This is not our first time of playing in this competition, we played in the semi-finals last year. We are hoping we will go beyond that and get to the final this year,” Mohammed said.
“We were mostly affected by injuries in the semi-final and 3rd place matches last year but thank God that we have all our players available. We are fit and everyone is ready to fight hard so that we can reach the final.”
Mohammed assured that their training have changed entirely from what they used to have: “Our trainings have changed, goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers are all doing their best, we will keep pushing and see how we can get to the final.”
He also praised match officials for their level of professionalism during matches and enjoin them to keep it up for the remainder of the tournament.
The top three of the 2020 edition: Balanga United, Bare City and All Stars FC have been eliminated already in the tournament with Balanga LGA Team the sole survivor among the top fourr last year.
