No fewer than 40 grassroots football coaches within Alimosho local government in Lagos are expected to take part in one day of coaching education organized by Seamoriow Sports Center and endorsed by the Lagos State Football Association LSFA.
The one-day coaching clinic would commence tomorrow morning at 8 am at the Seamoriow Sports Center, Aberanje road, Ikotun, Lagos.
The coaching education would be handled by the current chief coach of Golden Eaglets, Nduka Ugbade. Some well-known coaches are also invited to handle various aspects of the program both theoretical and practical.
Speaking on the coaching clinic, chairman of the Seamoriow Sports U-15 League Championship, Oluwaseyi Owolabi Amos said the one-day coaching clinic was put together to educate the coaches about modern-day football and ensure that all the participating coaches for the U-15 league championship are acquitted with the modern day football coaching and management.
“We are expecting 40 coaches to be in attendance tomorrow for the coaching education and we want to use this program as part of training and re-training for our grassroots football coaches which I believe would help their coaching career. The program is for the coaches whose teams are taking part in our U-15 league championship. At the end of the day, certificates would be issued to the coaches and I wish them the best of luck in their league championship,” he said.
A member of the Alimosho football coaches council, Samuel Uchenna Eke commended the organizers for educating Alimosho football coaches saying that the clinic would allow coaches to have a better understanding of football coaching and management.
He urged his colleagues to take the clinic seriously saying that such an opportunity comes once in a while.
Meanwhile, the U-15 league championship would begin on Friday. 16 football academies within Alimosho are expected to feature in the league. The two weeks league would hold at the Seamoriow Sports Center, Aberanje road, Ikotun, Lagos.
