Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports club, Edith Agoye has disclosed that his team’s promotion miss still haunts him.
3SC have narrowly missed promotion to the NPFL from the NNL twice.
Leading the pack in the promotion battle again this season, Agoye explained to FUBF that thinking about the miss still haunts him.
“(Not getting promoted)It was a difficult one and when I think about it, I find it difficult to accept. It happens in football, sometimes you fail at a task but in truth you have succeeded. Missing it (promotion) has a blessing in disguise because we have grown in character and every aspect of football and we are hoping to getting the promotion (on a third ask).”
On which way it is best to end the league amidst fears of the corona virus pandemic, the former Julius Berger player said “it is more important that every stakeholder involved football adminstration finds every available opportunity to make sure the season is completed for integrity’s sake.”
“But if at the end of the day, there is no way the season will be concluded then 3SC and other teams at the top of the NNL should be promoted. That is maintaining the integrity of any league when there is promotion and relagation.”
Agoye who scored 21 times for 3SC between 1994 and 1995 won the NPFL title with the club in 1995.
