Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan goalkeeper, Mustapha Lawal has sent out a prayer for God to guide his team successfully through the second half of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
At the halfway mark of the 2024/2025 campaign, which is currently on break for three weeks, the Oluyole Warriors stand third on the log with 33 points in19 matches, but Lawal believes they can climb all the way to the top.

Sports247 reports further that 3SC are just a point behind second placed Rivers United of Port Harcourt, while Remo Stars of Ikenne lead the log at the halfway point, but Lawal says he is encouraged by the recent form of Shooting Stars.
Speaking ahead of the resumption of action on January 25th, the in-form shot-stopper disclosed that he is enthusiastic that his team will overcome all hurdles and go top of the log.
He based his protection on the tremendous form and surge his side achieved towards the end of last year, as they pulled off two away victories and six clean sheets in a stretch of consecutive matches.
Along the line, the Ibadan-based side won 1-0 away to Rangers International of Enugu and Sunshine Stars of Akure, then beat visiting Kwara United of Ilorin by the same scoreline in their last match of the past year.
Before then, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s side also beat Abia Warriors of Umuahia and Kano Pillars by the same 2-0 scoreline in Ibadan, all of which Lawal believes can be replicated in the second half of the once disruptive but now streamlined NPFL season.
The enterprising net minder, who also earlier stopped two penalties during his side’s historic clash with Rivers United, expressed hope for better results to be achieved by the Oyo State-owned club as the weeks go by.
Lawal also stated self-satisfactory delight with his amazing stretch of clean sheets that helped his side soar up the table, and the fast-rising star declared: “I feel excited. There is no magic; it’s just God.”
He then looked ahead to the upcoming fixtures in the second half of the campaign, heading into which he expressed a note of optimism that God will see him and his colleagues through all the hurdles that lie ahead of them.
“In the second round, I know there will be more challenges, but I pray to God to see us through,” said Lawal, who is fondly called ‘Black Spider’ by his ever increasing array of excited fans.
