Barely 94 hours to the commencement of the 3rd Edition of the Stephen Keshi national U-17 boys football competition, the event used in celebrating the lifetime achievements of the late football captain and Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has received a various donation from ex-teammates and football stakeholders.
In a phone conversation with Platinum News on Thursday evening, the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr. Fred Newton Erhunmwunse disclosed that some of the late football icon friends have donated various sporting equipment to the organizers to support the tournament.
The Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Austin Eguavoen donated 2 Sets of foreign Jerseys to the 2 finalists that will be playing at the final on the 5th of December.
Another ex-teammate of the late Stephen Keshi, Pastor Taribo West has also donated 10 Football – to be shared amongst the best teams in the competition, and the sum of N30,000 to the organizers.
The former Edo State Football Association Chairman and the current Owan West Local government Chairman, Hon. Frank Ilaboya is not also left out of the kind gestures and hearty supports has thrown to bring about the successful event as he promised a donation of N50,000 to support the organization, being his desire to promote youths development in the society.
Another Football Developer from Owan East whose priority is to always engage the youths in society also donated Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals to the deserving winners and some special guests that will be honored during the finals as part of his foundation commitment to society. The Chairman of Omozojie Foundation, engineer Emma Omozojie applauded the organizers for the laudable project and promise
to always support the football tournament annually.
Meanwhile, Holloway Sports Shop, one of Edo state’s leading sports outfits located along stadium road, Benin City also donated some football replica awards for the most valuable player, highest goal scorer, and best goalkeeper of the tournament.
The Organising chairman meanwhile appreciated the Chief Medical Director of UBTH and the Commandant of S&T Barracks for providing the Hostel facility for the visiting teams outside Edo state, including the football field where the matches will be played from 1st to 5th December 2020.
“A total number of 12 teams have fully registered for the tournament which kicks off with the seminar at Wesley hotel and event Center by 11 am in the morning of December 1st, 2020.” As Nigeria Brewery will be on the ground to refresh and entertain all participants at also the branding of the hall

On his own part, the Secretary of the local organizing committee, Mr. Danladi Musa, confirmed that the remaining 4 slots are still open for teams that could be able to meet up with the registration requirement on or before Saturday 28th November 2020.
