As the third edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament BOWFT kicks off today in Benin City, the host State Edo Queens Football Club of Benin will this evening by 5 pm lock horns with Naija Ratels FC of Abuja after the official opening ceremony slated for 2 pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.

Edo Queens who lost 0-1 to FC Robo Queens in the last edition are battle-ready to face the ladies from Abuja this evening.
Since the inception of the pre-season tournament in Nigeria, Edo Queens have always shown their supremacy over Naija Ratels.
Edo Queens and Naija Ratels are not new to each other, they confronted themselves several times in the NWFL premiership and another competitive tournament.
For the number of times they have confronted themselves, Edo Queens have had five successive victories over Naija Ratels, both teams are not new to each other. Today’s match is for both teams to renew their rivalry.
The current champions of the just concluded Sheroes Pre-season tournament will not leave any stone unturned as they are fully ready to give opponents a run for their money in this competition.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission Yussuf Alli (Olympian) has commended the Edo Queens team for doing the State proud at the just concluded Sheroes Pre-season Cup tournament.
He charges the players to ensure they do the same in the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament BOWFT, adding that the State government will everything needed for them to excel as they prepare for the NWFl new season.
