The second edition of the Odion Ighalo Soccer competition has been scheduled to hold at the Odion Ighalo Sports Arena, opposite Atlantic Hall College, Poka, Epe, Lagos State.
The invitational soccer competition for football academies in Lagos, according to the General Coordinator of the event, Engineer Waidi Akanni, will kick off at Poka, Epe, from December 16, 2020, to December 20, 2020.
Waidi Akanni, a former Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, who is also a Nigerian soccer legend disclosed that a host of Nigerian football legends have confirmed their presence to attend the Ighalo championship. The soccer legends include two former African Footballer of The Year; Victor Ikpeba and Nwankwo Kanu, and one former Super Eagles player, coach, and now Technical Director of the Nigeria national soccer teams, Augustine Eguavoen.
Akanni noted that the 2020 edition of the Odion Ighalo Soccer Competition is Ighalo’s little way of giving back to the society and sport that took him to international limelight and recognition.
