2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Zimbabwe’s Coach Declares – Warriors Will Give ‘Everything’ To Stop Super Eagles’ Revival

Warriors of Zimbabwe’s coach, Michael Nees has declared that his players will on Tuesday give everything they have in order to stop Nigeria from picking another win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Sports247 reports.

Nees acknowledged that the Super Eagles enacted a huge revival in their initially disastrous qualification campaign by defeating Rwanda on Friday, but stressed that he and his players equally need maximum points from Tuesday’s game at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

With Zimbabwe straggling in last place on the qualification group’s table, despite a massive 2-2 draw last Friday with visiting Benin Republic, when they had to come from two goals down to snatch a point from the ‘home’ fixture played in Durban, South Africa, Nees admitted he and his players must upset the Super Eagles on Tuesday in The Nest of Champions.

He, however, admitted it will not be an easy task, as his side will have to confront a star-studded squad that is still in search of redemption and seeking to make atonement in front of their teeming partisan fans to turn their shaky qualification chances around.

The German tactician added, “Nigeria, from the individual angle and the names of the players, has top class. It’s absolutely top class; but they messed up their campaign at the beginning. It really was tough, but they had to wake up in this campaign.

“They won in Rwanda, which was for them always essential. So, a little bit difficult opponent was overcome, and they will come out now with confidence to stop us. They will come at us with all their power.”

While acknowledging that the Eagles will go all out for victory, Nees assured that his side will reply with equal fury and force, because they also need victory on Uyo for them to remain relevant in the race to the first FIFA World Cup that will be co-hosted by three countries – Canada, USA, Mexico.

“They really want to turn this campaign around, but so do we. That’s why it will be an exciting game. We have to perform to our maximum and, for sure, we can really expect to face a tough opponent, giving everything. But, we also have to give everything, and that’s what we will do,” Nees ended with an affirmation.
