In their first three World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa at the Godswil Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the Nigerian Eagles managed three 1-1 draws.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles apologized to the Nigerian football community on social media and pledging to do all within their power to earn a World Cup ticket after they recently lost 2-1 to Benin Republic on Sunday.
After the four games, the Super Eagles have lost all four and have three points, good for fifth place in Group C.
Diana Mary Nsan, the minister’s special assistant for media, announced that the minister will meet with the leaders of the NFF to discuss potential ways to revive Nigeria’s ambition to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The NFF has been informed of the intended notice while the ministry is seeking to find answers to the super eagles’ dilemma, she said, adding that the minister is now working with the Athletic Federation of Nigeians AFN National Trials for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Benin. In the same way that the federal government could contribute a special rescue committee to ensure the country qualifies for the world cup.
