The Super Eagles’ deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Mohammed Buba Jajere, has tasked the Super eagles of Nigeria to go all out to win against Benin Republic in one of the fourth round fixtures of Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers slated for Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Cote d’Ivoire on Monday.

Nigeria has recorded three successive 1-1 draws in Group C, most recently against South Africa in Uyo on Friday. In that match, the Super Eagles avoided a home loss by conceding a goal in the first half from Themba Zwane but equalized early in the second half through Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Despite going unbeaten in their first three games, the Super Eagles, who are now residing in fifth place in the standings, have had a very difficult season thus far.
Since their debut at USA 94, the Super Eagles have failed to qualify for only two editions of the World Cup, which is Germany 2006 and Qatar 2022.
The lawmaker representing Yobe State’s Fika/Fune Federal Constituency charged them to play and amend the precarious situation.
The Lawmaker stated: “So, even as they have dropped six valuable points, they can still recover the lost ground in the remaining matches.
“But to keep hope alive, they must win against the Benin Republic. With their former coach Gernot Rohr leading the Cheetahs, it will be a very difficult match, so the Super Eagles must bring their A game into the contest.
“However, they need to defeat the Benin Republic in order to maintain optimism. The Super Eagles need to bring their best to the encounter because the Cheetahs, led by their former coach Gernot Rohr, will be a formidable opponent.”
Thus, the lawmaker urged all Nigerians to support the Super Eagles in their endeavor to earn a spot in the upcoming World Cup.
