Ugoji told Sports247 that he and his colleagues were happy to defeat Lagos Panthers in their first game of the season on Sunday, then expressed optimism that the opening day win has boosted confidence in his side.
Chidi Ugoji retorted, “We started off slowly, but we picked it up in the second half, and we did what we learnt during practice. We are glad that our efforts came up with a win.”
Ugoji, though, admitted that his side will have to stay focused for their remaining nine games of the season, even as he projected that the opening day victory would serve as a morale booster heading into their upcoming fixture in week two.
“It also encourages us that we will need to keep going. We’ll go back to the drawing board, improve and come back stronger. From day one, the target for us is the championship. We’re thinking of the championship all the way,” Ugoji enthused.
