The tournament is slated to kick off on January 27th and will run until February 5th, 2025. With the draws set to take place on January 7th, fans and supporters can expect an exciting lineup of matches as the teams battle it out for the coveted trophy.
The tournament is aimed at celebrating the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was appointed as the Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in September 2025.
According to the organizer, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Wopa, “My company is organizing the competition on behalf of the executive chairmen of the sixteen LGAs of Kwara state to celebrate the game-changer, the executive governor of Kwara state, and to appreciate him for his numerous achievements in Kwara state and most especially in sports.
“I call him the game-changer because he has brought a lot of changes in the way of governance by encouraging youths in his government. He has changed the face of the capital city with his urban renewal of infrastructure.
In fact, his achievements in the state for now are unparalleled. No governor in the history of Kwara state has ever done what he has done in his five years on the seat.
“There’s no aspect of life that AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq did not touch, be it health, education, agriculture, infrastructure development, roads, sports, civil service, and lots more. So, he is worth being appreciated and celebrated so that he can be encouraged to do more.
“Don’t forget that the title we are celebrating for him, The Sardauna of Ilorin, was given to him by His Royal Highness Alh. Dr. Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, in appreciation of his developmental strides.
“I am not the direct person that is honoring him with this competition; I am just the organizer. It is the executive chairmen of the sixteen local government areas of Kwara state in appreciation of their leader and mentor. I am just like a consultant for the project.” Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Wopa explained.
