Legacy pitch Surulere Lagos and the New Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle will host the first preliminary round of matches as the 2025 Lagos FA is scheduled to begin on 22 January 2025, Sports247 reports.
The Vice Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, Dotun Coker, made this disclosure in a chat with Sports247 after the draws, which took place at the FA secretariat in Lagos on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025.
” There is no cause for alarm, the matches will kick off at the Legacy Pitch and the Maracana Stadium Ajegunle Lagos for now but as the progresses, we will extend it to other centers in the state” Dotun Coker told Sports247.
Meanwhile, A total of 28 rookie football teams will begin the competition in the first preliminary round as stipulated in the draws.

The winner of the one off match will proceed into the next round where they will face more experience teams which will serve as passage into the round of 32 where the defending champion and other established teams in the competition will join the race for honours.
According to the organiser, a total of 84 teams registered for the competition this year comprising 80 male teams and four female teams would feature in the female category.
Addressing the teams at the draw conference, Vice Chairman of LSFA, Adedotun Coker who represented the Chairman, Liameed Gafar assured that this year’s edition would be better in terms of organization, logistics and officiating.
He however warned teams to always abide by the rules governing the competition as there will be no room for any act that can bring the competition into disrepute.
Ikorodu City FC won the 2024 edition by defeating Inter Lagos in the finals played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan Lagos and this year’s final will be on the 23rd of February 2025 at the same venue
