2025 AFCONQ: Super Eagles New Invitee Banks On Work Ethics To Break First Team Barrier Vs Benin Republic

Newly invited Super Eagles player Gabriel Osho is banking on his work ethics to grab a starting shirt as the team faces Benin Republic in the 2025 AFCON qualifier on Thursday, Sports247 reports.

The Auxerre defender was one of the 22 players who had their first training in Abidjan on Tuesday ahead of the Matchday 5 encounter against Benin Republic says the level of competition for shirts in the camp is very high as Nigeria is blessed with many talented players .

The versatile Gabriel Osho who can play as right back as well as a central defender has been in fine form all season but has to contend with team captain William Troost Ekong, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi for a place in the team.

” This country is full of talented players, so it is very competitive to get called up” admitted Osho who is looking to break into the first team banking on his work ethics .

“I will work as hard as I can, and I think that is what the fans are going to expect from every single player here. Everyone has done enough to be here, but it’s just going to be the work ethic, and I want to work hard and do everything I can for this shirt, ” said Osho.

Osho was invited by former coach Finidi George but Injury prevented him from honouring the invited and he is expected to add more steel to the Super Eagles defensive capacity if he impresses the handlers of the team for a shirt in the team.

Apart from Sadiq Umar all the invited players trained under the tutelage of interim coach Austin Eguavoen and assistants Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as Nigeria takes on West African neighbour, Benin Republic on Thursday at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

A point in the match will tus Super Eagles pick a return to the Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria finished as finalist at the last edition in Ivory Coast.
