Nigeria’s Loveline Obiji (MON) has been disqualified in women’s up to 86 kg Para-Powerlifting event on Sunday morning at the 2024 Para Powerlifting at the Paralympics games, Sports 247 reports.
The 2020 Tokyo Paralympics Silver medallist was entered for the event but was disqualified before the event commenced, ending her hope of winning any medal at the games.

The reason for disqualification is yet to be as no official response to inquiries on why she was disqualified at press time.
Loveline Obiji made her debut for Nigeria at the Paralympics in London 2012 where she won a gold medal in the 82.5 kg and was rewarded with Member of the Order of the Niger [MON] by the Federal Government for her effort.
The accounting graduate whose passion for Powerlifting led her to take the sport as a profession in 2006 exits from the completion means Nigeria is left with only one event as the game ends today in Paris.
Nigeria is currently in 54th position on the medal table with a total of six medals won comprising 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Folashade Oluwafemiayo will seek to add to the medal haul as she will be competing in the Women’s 86 kg plus final by 1 pm today before the curtain is drawn on the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
