2024 NWFL Championship Draw Announced: Teams Set For Battle In Calabar

The draw for the 2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Championship has been finalized, setting the stage for an intense competition among 20 teams vying for promotion to the NWFL Premiership.

The draw was held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, where the teams were divided into four groups: A1, A2, B1, and B2.

In Group A1, Pelican Stars lead the charge alongside Heroes Queens, First Mahi, Castmog Ladies, and Imo Strikers. Each team will be looking to secure top honors and advance further in the tournament.

Group A2 features Kaduna Queens, Wazbak International, Osun Babes, Moje Queens, and Gallant Queens, all poised to showcase their talents in a highly competitive pool.

Group B1 brings together Chosen Generation, Ibom Angels, Unification FC, Delta Babes, and Papa Soccer Academy. These teams are expected to provide thrilling football, with each side determined to prove their mettle. Meanwhile,

Group B2 consists of Honey Badgers, Kwara Ladies, Fortress Ladies, and Dream Stars, rounding out a formidable lineup of contenders.

The tournament, which runs from August 31 to September 8, will follow a “tournament fashion” format. This means that teams will engage in a series of round-robin matches within their groups, with the top teams progressing to the knockout stages.

The ultimate goal for these teams is to secure one of the coveted promotion spots to the NWFL Premiership, where they will compete at the highest level of women’s football in Nigeria.
