Ahead of the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba the capital city of Delta State, Kano State Government has sent a total of 197 contingents to participate at the 8th edition of the national youth games in nineteen different games.
The Kano State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Honourable Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso urges the athletes to be good ambassadors during and after the competition. The commissioner briefed the contingents at Kano State Sports Commission today.

He expressed optimism that there is hope Kano will win a lot of medals in Delta and promise to reward the athletes that win Medals.
He also said the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf bring a lot of changes in sports sector.
On his part the Ag. Chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, Bala Sani Shehu said the athletes will go with a determination to win and be in high spirits knowing that they have governor that is interested in their affairs.”
Kano State to participate in nineteen different games they are; Basketball, fives, Golf, karate,, Judo, Swimming, Badminton, Chess, Handball and kickboxing.
The rest are Gymnastics, para-athletics, Rugby, Shooting, Hockey, Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
On their part, the athletes expressed optimism that with their intensive training, they are sure of winning gold medals in different fields of the games.
The NYG is geared towards discovering talents from the grassroots level with the objectives of promoting national unity, curbing age cheats in the area of sports and establishing a standard programme for athletes’ succession.
A total of 36 games are to be played during the eighth edition of the National Youth Games within ten days from September 9th to 19th, 2024.
