2024 Korean Ambassador’s Cup: Issahak Moussa Shines with Gold, Bronze Wins

Issahak Moussa of Niger Republic delivered an outstanding performance at the 2024 Korean Ambassador’s Cup, showcasing his prowess in taekwondo by winning two medals in different categories.

In the individual male poomsae event, Moussa earned a bronze medal alongside Elijah Agada from Benue, Nigeria.

However, Moussa’s most notable achievement came in the men’s freestyle poomsae category, where he outshone three other competitors to claim the gold medal.

Speaking after his victory, Moussa shared his excitement and determination, saying, “I was happy when I won the bronze medal, seeing that all categories were combined, so it wasn’t easy.

But during the freestyle, when I got on the mat, my energy came back, and hearing the cheers motivated me. When the judges announced the results, I was enthused, fired, inspired, and elated,” He told Sports247.

Moussa’s achievements at the Ambassador’s Cup mark another highlight in his successful year, having also won a bronze medal at the 13th African Games in Ghana earlier this year.

Looking ahead, Moussa has his sights set on more competitions, including the AEPIC event in Côte d’Ivoire this November, the 2025 Africa Championship, and even the 2028 Olympics in Las Vegas if poomsae is included.

His goals are clear: to continue improving, compete at the highest levels, and make his country proud.

The 2024 Korean Ambassador’s Cup saw notable performances from other athletes as well.

Harun Usman Oyo claimed the gold in the individual male poomsae category, with Salawudeen Abdulhafeez Kenny from Martial Art securing silver. Moussa and Agada shared the bronze in a fiercely contested event.

In the men’s freestyle poomsae, Moussa took home the gold, followed by Enumah Afam from the Nigerian Army, who won silver, and Onyeanusi Richard from Flowergate, who claimed the bronze.

Issahak Moussa’s exceptional performances have positioned him as a bright prospect in African taekwondo, with his journey just beginning and his sights set on even greater achievements in the future.
