The much-anticipated 2024 Ikeja DFA/Honourable Rasaq Ajala (HRA) Women’s League officially kicked off yesterday, Saturday, August 24, 2024, in grand style at Anwal-ul Islam College, Oniwaya, Agege.
The event drew football enthusiasts, local dignitaries, and fans eager to witness the start of this prestigious tournament.

The opening match saw the Ghetto Tigers Ladies (GTL) secure a commanding 3-1 victory over Fackson Nextpro Angels in Group A.
The match started with Fackson’s Omolara scoring an early goal, giving her team a momentary lead. However, the tide quickly turned in favor of GTL, with Rokibat Egberongbe equalizing, followed by two decisive goals from Ebube Jude and Ebube Jessica, sealing the victory for the Ghetto Tigers.
Oluwatomisin Oluwafemi of Ghetto Tigers Ladies was named the Woman of the Match for her outstanding performance, controlling the midfield and creating key opportunities for her team.
In a brief interview, Oluwafemi expressed her excitement about the win, saying, “It’s a great start for us. We came here to win, and this is just the beginning. We’re ready to give our best in every match and make our supporters proud.”
The league, powered by Honourable Rasaq Ajala, Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA and the 2024 Lagos State Man of the Year, promises to deliver more thrilling encounters. Week 1 of the Group A fixtures will continue with matches between Dynamic Queens and Wasbak International, Ablaze Amazon and Dannaz Ladies, and Honour Ladies against Flourish Queens. Meanwhile, Group B will feature Alimosho Ladies facing Future Stars 99, and SGH Amazons going up against Unification Ladies.
The next round of matches is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2024, where teams will continue their quest for glory in this prestigious league.
