2024 IASC Providus Bank Achievers Cup: Okorafor Opens Up On What To Expect In Second Round After Competitive First Round

Ike Okorafor, the Director of Sports and Chairman of the Sports Management Committee of the 2024 IASC / Providus Bank Achievers’ Cup has expressed his delight about the high competitive nature of this year’s competition after first round and promises a better second round, Sports247 reports

This competition has seen exciting games and results after the first six matches which marked the end of the first round as the four teams in the compound have faced each other in round robin format.

Team PROSSY won two of their matches conveniently defeated Team T-Gold and.Team CANDL 3-0 each before their 1-1 draw against Team Kendoriz in the final first round match to stay on to top the log with seven points .

Team T-Gold bounced back from their opening day loss 3-0 in the hands of Team PROSSY and won their follow up with back to back victories against Team Kendoriz and Team CANDL to close the gap on Team PROSSY at the end of the first round.

While Team Kendoriz has managed two draws to stay in contention, while all hope is not lost for Team CANDL with just a point in three games as there are still fresh three games to play all over again.

” So far so good the competition has lived up to its billing, we expected this kind of dramatic situation” Okorafor told Sports247.

Okoroafor continues: ” After the first match day some people were afraid that it’s going to be one team dominating but they can see that it’s very balanced and very competitive like in a
normal league, it must be balanced and competitive.”

” The first team on the log has 7 points and the second team has 6 points meaning two teams are already struggling to clinch the title so it is not over until it is over”.

The amiable administrator says he expects a more competitive second round as there are nine points to fight for.

” In the second half of the tournament I expect more competitiveness from the teams as the teams are having a week break to regenerate because as old men above 45 years they need to re- energise and I think in the second half of the competition the teams that are topping can bottled it,”

” Although the other teams have to work hard to get to where they wanted to be, it can go either way” Okorafor said.

The man in charge of organising said his committee will strive hard to better what was achieved in the first round after the one week break.

” The organization will continue to do their best, making sure to provide a conducive environment for the teams to remain competitive”.

” The teams have been balanced as we promised and we will put in more effort and most importantly control the emotions of teams because football is an emotional game and avoid bad behaviors.We will make sure that people respect and compose themselves after the break.”

The second round will resume on next Saturday 23 November 2024 with Matchday four and the venue remains the Lagos Business School football pitch along Lekki/Ajah Express way Lagos
