Emeka Nwankwo aka Mexzy, one of the players in the star studded Team T-Gold says the team will bounce back after their team unexpectedly crashed to a 3-0 opening day defeat against Team Prossy in the opening day of the 2024 Island All Stars Sports Club Providence Bank Achievers Cup, at the Lagos Business School pitch, Sports247 reports.
Team Prossy started slowly and ensured early barrage pressures from Team T-Gold in the second match of the Match Day 1 to post an impressive 3-0 victory over the favourite Team T-Gold.

A goal in the first half and two more in the second condemned Team T-Gold to the first loss of the 2024 IASC Providus Bank Achievers Cup.
Meanwhile, Mexzy describes the loss as a temporary setback, as the team will bounce back in subsequent matches, in an exclusive chart with Sports247 after the match.
“We started well, you know, but along the line we lost focus, as some of our key players played with injury. So along the line, the injury set in and fortunately we lost focus”.
“This is not the first time we’re playing this tournament. You know, we are like a family here, So there’s no winner, there’s no loser.
So we are one family, you know, but definitely we have about three more games or so to go, so we’ll come back stronger”, said Mexzy.
Mexzy who had his legs casted after the match due to injury he sustained in the keenly contested game says he will be fully fit to return to his best in their next match.
“The next game is in two weeks time, so that’s enough time for me to rehabilitate and hopefully I’ll recuperate” says Mexzy who thanked the organisers for putting on a great show as far as the competition is concerned.
“Yeah, this, Island All Stars Providus Achievers Cup has been wonderful, colorful, you see our kids, my wife, my brother by the side of me”.
“The organization has been excellent, the pitch is beautiful and all the kids are happy, I’ll be looking forward to better organization of the subsequent matches”, says Mexzy.
