From a thrilling away win in Ibadan to late drama and shifts in the relegation battle, here are the top five talking points:

Remo Stars Show Championship Quality in Ibadan

Remo Stars continued their impressive march toward a maiden NPFL title with a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In the heated Southwestern derby, Alex Oyowah netted the only goal of the game in the 30th minute, heading home a precise cross from Ismail Sodiq.

The Sky Blue Stars now boast 65 points from 34 matches and maintain a seven-point lead at the summit. With four matches left, the title is firmly within reach.

Ikorodu City Keep the Momentum, Leap into Third

Ikorodu City continued their remarkable form with a 1-1 draw away to El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri, a result that lifts them into third place on the NPFL table.

Emmanuel Solomon opened the scoring for the visitors in the 41st minute, but Sama’ila Bello quickly restored parity just four minutes later.

Now level on 53 points with Abia Warriors but with a superior goal difference, the Oga Boys are shaping up as strong contenders for continental qualification next season.

Abia Warriors Scandalous 5-1 loss to Katsina United finally threw the fight for the top 3 open as the battle is strictly between Ikorodu City and Abia Warriors with four matches to go.

Heartland FC Suffer Setback in Relegation Battle

Heartland FC’s fight for survival took a blow as they were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

The result leaves Heartland in deep trouble with limited time and opportunities left to escape relegation.

Every point counts at this stage, but dropped home points may prove costly.

Stars Fall, Akwa United Lose Again

It was a weekend of losses for the other stars in the league (aside Remo Stars ) as Shooting Stars, Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars.

Sunshine Stars hope of getting a point in Port Harcourt was punctured by Suleiman Abba’s 84th-minute goal which make their survival looks scaring.

Lobi Stars lost yet again at home this time conceeding four goals against Rangers, losing 2-4.

Meanwhile Akwa United’s survival hopes were also dented in Jos, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Plateau United. Vincent Temitope’s solitary strike was enough to sink the visiting team.

The loss adds to the woes of the “Promise Keepers,” who remain embroiled in a relegation scrap and now face an uphill task to avoid the drop.

Late Fan Disturbance on Matchdays

The drama on Matchday 34 extended off the pitch as late fan disturbances were reported during the Elkanemi Warriors and Ikorodu City FC.

Incidents of crowd unrest has been a recurring decimal ams a sour side of an otherwise exciting weekends of football in the NPFL prompting concerns from league officials and stakeholders.

NPFL authorities are expected to issue statements and possible sanctions in response to the disruptions in Maiduguri as the ugly tre nd must be nipped in the bud as the teams are focused on winning crucial points in the remaining games.
