Nigeria representatives at the just concluded 2023 ITTF Africa Youth Championship, Muiz Adegoke and Kuti Matthew have reflected on the teams’ third place finish despite a slow start to the event.
Nigeria secured well-deserved third place in the 2023 ITTF Africa Youth Championship, sealing an impressive 3-0 victories against Algeria and Tunisia in the U15 and U19 Boys’ teams respectively yesterday.
Abdulfatai Abdulbasit, the main man for the Nigerian table tennis team in Agadir alongside Kuti, Adegoke have now emerged as the third best team in the ongoing championship.
Following a not so good beginning, Nigeria bounced back from their loss against Algeria with a dominant 3-0 defeat of Libya to book a semi-finals berth against Egypt in the U19 Boys’ Teams.
Yesterday, between Egypt and Nigeria in the U15 and U19 Boys’ semi-finals in what was a fierce encounter, the North Africans prevailed in both categories, advancing into the final and setting Nigeria up for a third place finish which they win today against Algeria and Tunisia respectively.
“The match against Egypt was very hot” – Muiz Adegoke and Kuti Mathew shared their thoughts on their performance in the Teams’ event.
Nigeria finished 3rd in both the U15 and U19 Boys’ Teams.
