Placed in Group B alongside Canada, Ireland, and host, Australia, Randy Waldrum’s side was able to sail out of the group unbeaten, picking two draws and one victory against the Aussies to set up a round 16 encounter with England.

Unfortunately, Nigeria lost despite creating the best chances against the Lionesses who were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute after Lauren James’ wild stamp on Michelle Alozie through a penalty shootout.

Each player of the squad has since gone on to appreciate the fans for their support throughout their stay in Brisbane and Ayinde Halimatu isn’t left out.

She took to her Twitter handle to share her emotions with the fans in a post that read;

“Still struggling to come to terms with the fact that our promising FIFA WWC outing had come to an unexpected end.”

“Amidst my recurring pains from injury, I still feel proud of this team & the incredible memories created down under. The future is bright! Thanks for the support,” the post ended.
