2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup: Samuel Akinbinu’s Arta Solar Wins Big As Bendel Insurance Hopes To Build On Second Leg Advantage

Nigeria descent Arta Solar midfielder, Samuel Akinbinu was in action as his side eased past Somalian side Horseed SC in their opening game of the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup yesterday with Bendel Insurance picking up a vital 1-0 victory against ASO Chlef in hope to build on it in the second leg round.

Burkina Faso striker Alain Traore scored two goals for Arta Solar of Djibouti to defeat Somali side Horseed SC 3-0 in their first-leg of the preliminary stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday as Edo-state-owned football club, Bendel Insurance defeated their guests, Aso Chlef FC of Algeria in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The second day of matches produced another round of exciting, but tightly contested African football encounters across the continent.

Libya’s Al-Hilal Benghazi traveled to face Kenya’s Kakmega Homeboyz where the match ended with a 0-0 stalemate while South Sudan’s Al Merreikh stunned Haidob En Nahud 1-0 at home in another tightly contested fixture.

Mali’s Elgeco Plus had to dig deep against Botswana’s Gaborone United with a narrow 1-0 away victory while Guinea’s Milo rallied to hold Ghana’s Dreams FC to a 1-1 draw.

Bendel Insurance continued their perfect start to the season. The Nigerians edged Algeria’s ASO Chlef 1-0 to register an important first-leg victory.

On Saturday, August 26, Bendel Insurance is expected to be at the Stade Mabrouki Salem in Algeria for the return leg.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars began their conquest with a controversial  0-1 loss away to Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC yesterday while Enyimba International played out a seven-goal thriller (3-4) with Libya’s Ahli Benghazi.
