Sporting Lagos defender, Nwoke Emmanuel is still basking in the euphoria of the club’s winning debut in the 2023/24 NPFL campaign after picking up a deserved 2-0 victory against Gombe United yesterday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The Naija Super 8 champions who got promotion from the NNL last season made light work of the visitors in front of the home crowd to coup a maximum of three points.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247, the defender, Nwoke Emmanuel who has played for a handful of clubs in the Nigeria Professional Premier League lauded the win as a step in the right direction.
“This is our debut in the NPFL and we thank God for the victory, it’s a good thing that we started on a good note with the fans watching us as we entertain them”.

“Before this game, we really put a lot in our preparations. We believed in ourselves and it’s a good thing that we have some experienced players in our midst who helped to get the victory”.
The former Heartland, Enugu Rangers, Kwara United, and Warri Wolves defender allayed his positivity towards the remaining games of the season stating that the debut win will spur them on.
“We are expecting to finish high and possibly win the tile and qualify for the continent while maintaining our status in the league”.
“We can keep up with this momentum and thank God for the first victory which will give us the confidence to push on”.
“Subsequently, in our other matches, we will get the win, and kudos to Gombe United for putting up such a brave fight” he concluded.
