As the organizers of the Nigeria National League, NNL have picked October 28 as Kick off date, the head Coach of Gateway United, Samson Omiponle has assured that his team will be among the best top teams at the end of the season.
The former Warri Wolves handler stated this at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Match Day 1 fixture between Shooting Stars Football Club and Plateau United.
The ex student of Greewhich College, London assured that his team was well-prepared and equipped with the necessary skills to challenge for the top spot at the end of the season.
He then used the occasion to call on their teeming fans to cheer the team to victory in all their matches. He noted that the fans are the strength and backbone of the club.
On the chances of his team being among the top 2 teams that will make it to Super 8 from Southern Conference B which comprises :Warri Wolves, Osun United, Ikorodu United Giant Brila, FC One Rocket, Ijebu United, Tradesafe, Crown FC and Inter Lagos, the holder of CAF and UEFA B expressed optimism that Gateway FC will qualify for the playoff and gain promotion to the elite league.
“Big thanks to the Governments of Ogun State for their massive support. Also, the Management are backing me with the available resources Well, as a team, we are not afraid of any side as our eyes is set on promotion ticket to the Premier League”
The former Ekiti United tactician added that :” By the special grace of God, with good officiating, we’re not going to let our fans down. The team has intensified training , technical and tactical aspects of it and the players are responding to the new order of football. I like to call on our fans to keep supporting the team as they are the strengths and backbone of this club. When action begins, Nigerians will see the new brand of Gateway Football Club”, Omiponle enthusiastically sounded.
