Five players of the Nigeria men’s U-17 team, Golden Eaglets have been included in the Team Of The Tournament of the just concluded 2022 WAFU B U-17 tourney in Ghana.
Several Golden Eaglets players won fans’ hearts as Nigeria won all their four matches including the 2-1 victory against Burkina Faso in the final of the tournament to emerge the winners of the regional competition that automatically qualified them for the 2023 U-17 AFCON billed for Algeria.
Idris Abubakar, Emmanuel Michael, Jeremiah Olaleke, Yahaya Lawali, and goalkeeper Richard Odoh were all included in the Best Eleven of the tourney which was released on the WAFU Twitter account.
Remember that Emmanuel Michael made a name for himself as a freekick specialist, netting three freekicks in the competition with his brilliant performance earning him the Man Of The Awards in Nigeria’s first three matches.
While Richard Odoh was fantastic in the final match against Burkina Faso, making several brilliant saves to ensure that Golden Eaglets secure the West African title.
Meanwhile, the players were not the only members of the Nigeria contingent that were given accolades as the team’s Head Coach Nduka Ugbade was named Coach of the Tournament, after managing the U-17 boys to a victorious outing in Ghana without suffering any defeat.
