Former Nigeria international, Akubike uche who is also the goalkeeper for John Max at the ongoing 2022 IASC Unity Cup is happy following thier first win of the game against HiQ Auto Centre while also lamenting the late goal conceded revealing they should have won with a clean sheet.
John Max Properties were reduced to ten men while still leading 2-0 but then conceded at the dying minute of the game as they ran out eventual winners with two goals to one.
Akubike Uch (MON) who played France 98 and was also third choice goalkeeper in the Nigeria team spoke exclusively to Sports247.ng after the game saying, “We won but I wasn’t too impressed because I conceded a goal.”
“It was in the dying minute when we should have run out 2-0 winners so that we won’t have a goal counted against us but it’s good we won.”
He continued, “We will go and prepare and strategize for the next match for next week.”
On the referee’s call which could have destabilized the team “the red card didn’t affect us too much because we were leading two goals up, we just had to strategize and know how to defend the game.”
“The problem we had was towards the dying minute, most of our players started having muscle cramps because of the workload of marking excessively throughout the second half,” Uche lamented.
“I believe we will come through in this Cup game. We are wining the cup because I have weighed the strength of the remaining two teams, we are coming victorious with determination and God on our side,” he boasted.
