Team Nigeria boxer Elizabeth Osoba has promised to bring home a gold medal from the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham, England.
Elizabeth Osoba is one of nine Nigerian boxers who will compete at the Games which will be held from July 28 to August 8, 2022. She will represent Nigeria in the 57kg weight division in the women’s category.
“I’m feeling well. I’m feeling good and I don’t feel any pressure,” Osoba told Sports247 at the British High Commissioner’s reception for Team Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday.
“I’m one hundred percent confident in myself going into this competition. I’ve been into boxing since 2013 and since then I’ve been putting more effort and I’ve been representing my country and getting medals.”
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, Team Nigeria won only two bronze medals in boxing. Osoba has promised gold this time around.
“I promise Nigerians that I’ll come back with a gold medal. By the grace of God and with the support of the coaches I’m going to come out with flying colors. It’s a promise.” she concluded.
