Oyo State contingents on Sunday was impressed with the arrival of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engineer Seun Fakorede as the contingents won more gold and silver medals in various events in the ongoing National Youth Games taking place in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Oyo Male Basketball Team have qualified for the final of the event eyeing gold in this category
Boxing
Quoyum Quozeem technically lost gold medal and settled for silver medal in 48kg male category
Athletics
Faruq Aremu and Daniel Agboola qualified Oyo state for the final of 200m
Tennis
Imole qualified for female singles final and harps on gold medal
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engineer Fakorede who arrived Ilorin on Sunday immediately with the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Akin Dare appreciated the state athletes for the job well done. “I’m impressed with these lads and I give kudos for the strides made so far in various events. The Executive Governor of the state is expecting more from you and you can always give him the best.” Commissioner solicited
The General Manager of Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde said the team is still aiming for more medals in the remaining events even the closing ceremony would be rounding off on Monday
While commending the state government led by the amiable sports-loving Governor, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for the Keen interest he shows to the well being of the athletes, the General Manager said the athletes have shown a lot of good things to come in the state
“We are convinced enough that Oyo state has an array of good athletes which means that the future is bright in the state and the state government has a father figure to churn out the best from these youths”
