Wasola FC of Lagos youngster, Wasiu Ajisafe has revealed that watching France’s battling midfielder, Ngolo Kante play provides him with the motivation to excel during every match.
Ajisafe made this stimulating revelation after emerging tops of all other players in his side’s 1-1 draw with G12 Football Academy at 1XBet Cup 2024.
Incidentally, Wasola had to come from behind to seal the draw, and they got it despite having a man sent off early in the game.
However, Ajisafe revealed in a chat with sports247.ng after the encounter that he never for once thought his team would lose the fixture, which he tagged ‘rivalry match.’
He admitted it was a tough game, then praised his colleagues for the onerous decision they all took to fight back with the best of their efforts.
Ajisafe said, “All my thought was that we must win this game. I told myself that, even if we can’t win, we should at least draw.
“We were down, so we all said that we must hustle ourselves in order to score.”
He then acknowledged the true value of the single point his team gained from the encounter, steessing: “This draw means a lot to me o.
“It means a lot, because this is a match between rivals. The two teams are from Lagos Island and that made it a rival match.”
The ebullient lad then concluded by revealing his admiration for Kante, who he described as his mentor.
“The star player I like is Ngolo Kante. Everybody knows he is my mentor. Everybody knows I always want to play like him.
“I want to play this football higher. I want to play for the national team and for a big club in Europe,” Ajisafe revealed.
