The excited tactician admitted it was a tough game against a very good team handled by a tactically sound coach, hence the deep level of relief he had with his side’s victory.
He explained how they achieved the comeback and declared gleefully: “I will first of all thank Almighty Allah and then give all my players credit. I hail each one of them for their gallant efforts.
“When we were 1-0 down, I saw that our problem was we were trying to entertain the crowd. That’s why I then told my boys to push forward so that we could attack them more and more than they were attacking us.
“I knew that when we attacked them more, we would push them back; and that’s how we were able to get our two goals.
“They are a very good side. I did not even think we could beat them; but it was the technicality that we put into the game that helped us.”
The articulate gaffer stressed how good the opponents were and acknowledged that they gave his team a good lesson about how to prepare for their next two group matches in order to qualify into the competition’s next round.
“They are a very good side, and their coach is technically sound. That’s why I decided to take advantage of how they liked coming forward to push them back.
“When we pushed them back, we had the opportunity of pressing them, and we got what we wanted.
“We are now planning for the next match. We will play all our matches as if they are the final, so that we can qualify from the group stage.
“I believe, with the mettle of the players I have and with Almighty Allah, we will get there,” Abiodun concluded with a tone of optimism
