17Year Old Nigerian-Irish Boxer Trains In Agege Stadium To Become As Great As Anthony Joshua And Deontay Wilder

Sports247 caught up with Nigerian boxer Patrick Emekhailus who was seen training vigorously at the Agege Stadium. “Anthony Joshua who started at 18yr old and Deontay Wilder who also started at 18years and went to Olympics in the first year and now a pro are the people who motivate me,” said the young boxer.

The lad was asked why he chose boxing and if he plans on going pro and he explained the values the sport brings that led to him choosing the sport. “Boxing is a good and tough sport that teaches discipline. It helps the mindset and I regard it as the best sport out there,” said Patrick. “(I’m taking it) as a profession, when I get back to the UK (United Kingdom) in the next two months, I plan on going to compete and see how far I can go with boxing,” he added.

The young boxer also revealed his plans and target for his career in the next five years. “In the next five years, I’ll be a professional. I’ll be touring the world and representing the country I was born in which is Ireland. I should also have gone to the Olympics and had some National Championships to my name,” he concluded after clearly stating he would not be boxing for Nigeria as he is Irish.
