The Kaduna born, 23 years old Nigerian International, Sadiq Umar, who currently plays for Spanish side UD Almeria in the Second tier of Spanish football has equalled his goal scoring tally for the previous season and feels he can only get better.
The 1,92m striker scored 17 goals in all competitions last season and currently after 32 games this season in all competitions, he has already equalled that tally with many more games left to go.
In a chat with Sports247, he said “my target was to beat my last year goals and I’ve done that, now I have no limits. I have to keep on going, the sky is the limit and I’ll see where I’ll arrive.”
UD Almeria defeated Spanish La Liga side Alaves 5-0 in the Copa del Rey third round and Sadiq Umar felt his side were not conscious about what league their opponents play in. “We keep saying to ourselves that we need big games to test ourselves…here, we don’t put it in our heads that we’re playing first division side, we just want to get tested and we passed this test. It gives us more confidence and we believe in our self,” he said.
Sadiq Umar was a part of the Nigerian team that won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic games where he scored six times including a hattrick in the Bronze medal winning the match against Honduras at the Belo Horizonte, Mineirao which ended 3-2 in favour of the Nigerian team.
