16 teams have confirmed their readiness to take part in the 5th edition of the national U-17 Stephen Keshi memorial football competition.
The chairman Organizing Committee, Erhunmwunse Newton Fred disclosed that all the participating teams have completed their registration forms and they are battle-ready for the annual tourney scheduled to commence on 1 June at the Nigeria Postal Service football pitch, Egor Quarter, Benin, Edo State.
Fred revealed that some clubs from other states are interested in the competition and promised them good hospitality throughout their stay in Edo.
Among the teams registered for the tourney are Bendel Insurance Feeders, Goal Driven Academy from Abeokuta, Mighty Wonders from Delta, Rockers FC from Edo, Oza Progressive from Edo, Andallas Sports Academy from Delta, and Worshipers FC from Edo.
Others are Elite Stars from Edo FC, IB Sports Dreams from Abuja, Dynamoh Academical from Edo, Ogbomo FC from Edo, Jazzy Stars FC from Jos, Divine FC from Edo, Genesis FC from Benin, Excellent FC from Delta, and Emelem United from Umunede.
The competition according to Fred was packaged to honor former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi whose contribution to football development in the country could not be forgotten when he was alive.
He explained further that the tourney would also bring healthy rivalry among the amateur clubs saying that all the teams involved in the annual tourney have football pedigree in their various states.
