13th Women AFCON: Super Falcons to Learn Group Stage Opponents on Friday

Nine-time champions Nigeria Super Falcons will find out their group stage opponents for next year’s Women Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) when the draw takes place at the Technic Centre of the Mohamed VI Football Complex in Sale, outside Rabat, Morocco, on Friday evening.

The tournament will feature 12 finalist teams divided into three groups of four. The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

This year’s competition is scheduled to take place in Morocco from 5th to 26th July 2025.

Nigeria has a remarkable record in the Women AFCON, having won nine out of the 12 tournaments held since the inaugural event in 1998.

Equatorial Guinea has won twice, and South Africa claimed victory in the most recent edition, hosted by Morocco in July 2022.

All four top-placed teams from the last edition—Cup holders South Africa, hosts Morocco, Zambia, and Nigeria—are set to compete again.

The other qualified teams include Ghana, Algeria, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tunisia, Senegal, Tanzania, and Mali.
