13th BIENNIAL POLICE GAMES: IGP INSPECTION TEAM ARRIVES UYO FOR SECOND FACILITY TOUR

Ahead of the hosting of the thirteenth Biennial Police Games, a team of senior police officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc+, NPM, fdc, has arrived Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital and proposed host city for the sports championship.

The team, comprising members of the National Local Organising Committee (NLOC), which arrived on Thursday, September 8, was received by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, who was in company of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, the state Director of Sports, Elder Ifiok Duff, management staffers of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and members of the State Local Organising Committee (SLOC).

The joint-delegation of the NLOC and SLOC commenced their tour of facilities by visiting the Nest of Champions where all facilities thereat, including the main bowl, practice pitch, dressing rooms, VIP lounges, among others, were declared to be in perfect condition and ready for use.

Among the centres visited who also earned satisfactory ratings include West Itam sports centre, Ibom Hall grounds, Ultrafit Nigeria Limited and Uyo Club. Others were Nigeria Christian Institute (NCI), Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort and the State Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This is the team’s second visit to the state following their previous visit on August 26, 2022. While in the state, the team is expected to hold a series of meetings with the SLOC and related stakeholders and fine-tune arrangements to ensure a hitch-free hosting of the epochal championship.

A total of thirty-two sports will be competed for when the thirteenth edition of the Biennial Police Games get underway in the state in November this year.
