A rising star is making waves in the world of athletics, and his name is Abdulaleem Abdulsalam. The 12-year-old sprint sensation from Greensprings School, Lekki, delivered a jaw-dropping performance to clinch double gold in the Boys Cadet category at a recent athletics meet in Lagos.
Abdulsalam stormed to victory in both the 100m and 200m events, breaking his personal bests in both races and stamping his name as the best U14 sprinter in the state.
In the 100m final, the young sprinter clocked an impressive 12.19 seconds, a new personal best that earned him the gold medal and set the tone for what would be a memorable day. Just an hour later, Abdulsalam was back on the track for the 200m—and he didn’t disappoint. Showing remarkable stamina and determination, he powered through to another PB, winning the race in 24.73 seconds.
His back-to-back victories not only showcased his raw talent but also his composure and readiness for the big stage, earning praise from coaches, fans, and fellow athletes alike.
