BasketballTwelve schools will compete for triumph in the 24th edition of the MILO basketball championship final, which will take place on Saturday, June 22 in Lagos.

The 12 schools, grouped into four groups in both the male and female categories, were announced during the draws held on Wednesday at the Nestle Office in Ilupeju, Lagos.
Father O’Connell Science College, Bishop Dimieri Grammar School, Bayelsa, and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria Secondary School in Cross River advanced from the preliminary stages of both the Northern and Southern conferences to the finals in the male category.
Other teams in the male category group B2 included Ijaiye Housing Estate Senior Grammar Schools in Lagos, Rumfa College in Kano, and Government Day Secondary School in Gombe.
In the female category, group A1 included Top field College, Lagos, Dom Domigos College, Delta and Queen Amina College, Kaduna while group B1 comprised of Government Secondary School, FCT Abuja, Onireke High School, Oyo and Zarumai model school.
Earlier before the draws, Managing Director, Nestlé Nigeria Plc Mr Wassim El-Husseini represented by the country’s commercial director, Boladale Odunlami expressed delight in providing a platform for young ones to showcase their talents while the president, International Basketball Federation, FIBA Africa Zone 3 Col. Sam Amedu appreciated the organisers for their contribution to the growth of basketball, saying the school grade competition has salvaged the sport from going into extinction in the country.
