- The Akwa Ibom State Liaison Committee for the Nigerian Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) has released the schedule for the final selection trials of athletes set to represent the state in the upcoming festival, which kicks off on April 1, 2025.

The trials, covering 17 different sports, will take place across various venues in Uyo on Saturday, March 22, 2025, as follows:
Godswill Akpabio Stadium – Athletics (9:00 am), Weightlifting (10:00 am), Table Tennis (10:00 am), Boxing (11:00 am), Para Athletics (10:00 am), Para Powerlifting (10:00 am), and Wrestling (10:00 am).
University of Uyo Town Campus – Basketball (8:00 am) and Volleyball (8:00 am).
Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort – Tennis (10:00 am) and Canoeing (10:00 am).
Uyo Township Stadium – Traditional Wrestling (9:00 am), Football (Male: 9:00 am, Female: 12:00 noon).
Commercial Secondary School – Handball (8:00 am).
House 5, Ewet Street – Scrabble (11:00 am).
Ultra Fit – Swimming (11:00 am).
Nobel’s School – Chess (time not specified).
According to the head of the technical committee, Catherine Ekuta, only athletes listed as qualified will be permitted to participate in the trials.
Media professionals are invited to attend and cover the trials, providing exposure for the athletes as they compete for a place on the state’s final team.
Following the trials, a technical meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Nest of Champions VIP Lounge. The meeting will focus on evaluating performances, finalizing the list of selected athletes, and confirming officials for the main event.
