Ibrahim ‘Kante’ Amin’s late blockbuster gave 10 men KG Sports Academy Agbor a late win over Rainbow’s FC to book the Finals ticket of the KG Foundation Cup billed for Saturday, June 12.
KG Sports Academy Launched their new white and Black Home Kits and had a sparkling start to the match after going 2-0 up inside the first 10mitutes.
Emmanuel Emefiele scored the opener- His Third Goal of the tournament- from the penalty spot after a Rainbow Defender handled the ball inside the box and Teenage Sensation Godsent Obuzeme doubled the lead in the 9th minute after cheating down the ball beautifully before firing home a home volley.
KG seems to be on fire only for their onslaught to the thwarted after Big Do handle a goal-bound shot from the line and earn himself a deserved Red card, his second in this tournament before Akande Samson scored to make it 2-1…
KG held on to the lead until the interval and came back looking to defend the lead but were shocked just 5 minutes into the second half to make it 2-2.
With their backs to the wall, KG Sports Academy continued to look for the winner despite being one man down, and indeed they got it when substitute Kante fired from 25 yards out to seal the win and give KG the Finals Ticket.
Meanwhile, Winners FC had on Wednesday defeated Hard Fighting Ekuku-Agbor United FC 2-0 in the first semi-finals. Christian scored the first goal before striker Destiny made it 2-0 for the Agbor Obi Boys.
KG Sports Academy will now meet Winners FC in the finals on Saturday, June 12 at the University of Delta State’s Sports Field.
